Cocoa and the brain

This piece from the BBC is linking cocoa with improved brain function.  A similar study in the US in 2010 concluded there was benefit in folk with heart disease.  It is thought flavanols might be the active ingredient – repairing damaged inner walls of arteries, improving blood flow and even possibly reducing bloood pressure.  The latter study was sponsored by the maker of a well-known chocolate bar allegedly battered and sold in chip shops in Scotland!
